About Estudio Capaz

Estudio Capaz is a space for creativity, experimentation, and possibility, rooted in the heart of Cathedral City’s Perez Arts District. Created for artists, makers, and the creatively curious, our shared makerspace offers access to tools, equipment, and workstations that invite exploration across artistic disciplines. Whether you're an emerging artist developing your practice, an experienced maker exploring a new medium, or simply curious about learning something new, Estudio Capaz is a place to experiment, exchange knowledge, and bring ideas to life. Inspired by the Spanish word capaz, meaning capable or able, we believe everyone has the capacity to create, discover, and grow. Through shared resources, collective learning, and creative community, we aim to cultivate an environment where curiosity leads the way, collaboration sparks new possibilities, and the freedom to make something of your own is always within reach.

Adriana Lopez-Ospina

Co-Founder

Adriana Lopez-Ospina is a Colombian-American fiber artist based in California’s Coachella Valley. Working across tufting, weaving, natural dyeing, and sculptural installation, her practice explores the relationships between cultural memory, environment, and material. Drawing from her Colombian heritage and the desert landscape she calls home, Lopez-Ospina creates tactile works that use repetition, modularity, pattern, and the handmade to consider how individual elements can accumulate into larger narratives of place and belonging.

Lopez-Ospina holds a BFA from Saint Louis University and an MHA from UCLA. Her recent work includes a residency with the REACH AIR program, where she researched native plants and their potential as natural dyes, and an exhibition at the Ontario Museum of History & Art, and guest curator for The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Arts. Through her studio practice and community-engaged projects, she continues to investigate fiber as a material capable of holding memory, connecting traditions, and translating the environments that shape us.
